Midnight offset

Post by Sakhai » Sun Jul 11, 2021 1:04 pm

I have a strange sleep schedule, and very few tasks I add are so sensitive that they must be done on the exact calendar date they've been given as a due date. I also tend to look at my to-do lists with the filter set to only show things due "today" (as I have quite a few daily tasks). One thing I really love about one of the other applications I use, Anki, is the ability to tell it to treat a different hour of the day as "midnight", which causes the program to treat a day as being from, say, 3am on that calendar date to 3am on the next calendar date rather than simply the calendar date itself.

The way I personally envision this is as a setting somewhere which allows you to specify an offset that affects what the program considers the boundaries of the calendar dates (ideally in both directions, so you could choose to have days end earlier instead of later). Perhaps there could also be a toggle for individual tasks that causes them to use normal dates, but this doesn't matter to me.
