[Infotips] Are 'infotips' working right in 8.3.2? Topic is solved

I installed a clean 8.3.2 and 'infotips' were not working. I rebooted TDL, rebooted the PC, tried a clean install again and still had the same issue. Sometimes in the 'Task Tree' view and one or two other views I was able to see the 'infotips' if I clicked on the task, but that was inconsistent. The 'infotips' do not appear when I hover a task in any view and in some views (like Calendar) nothing I did made them appear.

'Infotips' are working normally for me in my production installation of 8.3.2 just not in the cleanly installed one with the default file opened.

I posted the .ini from the clean install below just for the heck of it, but for me it did not work out of the box on the default 'untitled' file.

Additional note: I noticed that the option to show 'infotips' in 'Preferences' was NOT enabled by default when I installed the clean install. Is that supposed to be the case? Could be wrong but I thought this was enabled by default in previous versions. But I enabled it before these tests so that was not the issue.

One other pointer... when I do a clean install, I leave all the default install options except on the first dialog I choose 'US English' (you know that weird sounding bastardization of the King's English ) and on the last dialog I choose 'No' for both options.

So the steps I did:

1) Clean install of 8.3.2 (using the dialog options I described above).
2) At the end of the install the 'untitled' tasklisk opens automatically containing a single task
3) Enable infotips in 'Preferences'
4) Hover tasks on 'Calendar' and other views to test.

Do infotips work? Not for me. ....¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Whewww! Thanks Dan. That's a relief. I was nervous about this one and not sure if you could reproduce it or I was imagining things.

This is quite the doozy @Ryan!

What I think I've learned so far regarding the steps you provided:

1. Enabling a language other than 'English (UK)' is NOT a contributory factor
2. Answering 'No' to question '4' on the Setup ToDoList dialog is NOT a contributory factor
3. Answering is 'No' to question '5' is not the cause of the problem, but it does result in the circumstances necessary for the problem to occur.

What else I think I've discovered:

1. Problem only happens if TDL has a single tasklist loaded (or newly created), which contains just a single task
2. Problem only happens if that single task has an ID of '1'

-> This is the same as answering 'No' to question '5' does but it can also be achieved manually.

3. Problem goes away as soon as a second task is created.
4. Problem comes back if the second task is then deleted (though the infotip may appear once more before not returning)

If you have time I'm hoping you can perform your own experiments with the attached tasklists (and any else you might choose to create) to confirm or deny my observations.

Confirmed the following:

Using file 'Introduction (one task having an ID of 1).tdl':

'Infotips' did not work properly. In addition to usually not appearing when hovering a task, I also observed that sometimes they seem to appear near the cursor even when the cursor is not over the task. See 'Image #1' below.

Using file 'Introduction (one task having an ID of 2).tdl':

'Infotips' worked as expected.
